Glen Morris O’Neal Sr.

Oct. 7 1936 – Feb. 1, 2017
Glen Morris O’Neal Sr. of Lee’s Summit, MO, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Roberta (Bobbie) Ann (nee. Close); his son Glen; his brother Orless of Wichita, KS; his grandsons: Christopher, John, and William; his great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Aidan, Michael, Wesley, Matthew, Daphne, Fabian, and David. He is preceded in death by his father William and mother Mahala (Annie); his siblings; Leonard, Edith, Cecil, Mary, Anna, Harvey, and Virgil.

Glen served thirty years in the United States Navy reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served for six of those years on the staff of Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, while the admiral held the office of Chief of Naval Operations and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Glen also served as personal writer to Admiral Harry D. Train II, Commander of Cruiser Destroyer Flotilla Eight aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) and during the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks II (SALT II) in Moscow, Russia.

Funeral Service will be Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW Third St., Lee’s Summit, MO, 64063. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery, 20109 Business Highway 13, Higginsville, MO following service.
