Carol Umphress, 74, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on November 24, 2014 at Wilshire at Lakewood Nursing Home in Lee’s Summit, MO. She was born on June 19, 1940 in Dubuque, IA to Ray Hansen and Marita Hansen.

After graduation from North Kansas City High School, Carol lived the majority of her life in Kansas City, MO. As the successful owner and operator of “Carol’s Catering” for 30 years, she specialized in weddings and was widely known for her cakes and cookies. After retirement she moved to Saint Marie’s, ID in 2004 where she lived for 5 years and volunteered at Saint Marie’s Catholic Church and Meal Site. Afterwards, she moved back to Lee’s Summit, MO in 2009.

Carol had an unwavering faith in Jesus and was a member of Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit, MO. Carol loved praying, singing, cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Carol truly enjoyed helping others and volunteered countless hours with various organizations throughout her life. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by many.

Carol is survived by her daughters Karen (Shawn) Snedden, Kathleen (Bruce) Fearon, Sheryl (Jason) Latham and grandchildren Andrew (Gabrielle) Snedden, Lauren Snedden, Chase Fearon and Delaney Fearon. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and elder relatives.

Visitation and funeral will be held at Our Lady of Presentation 150 NW Murray Rd Lee’s Summit, MO
