Robert Roland Young
Robert Young, 78, previously of Lee’s Summit and Mexico, MO, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side on December 15, 2012. A private burial will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Bob was born on January 20, 1934 in Alexandria, MO and graduated from Memphis High School in 1951. He served two years in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, completing his training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and was stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After returning home, Bob graduated from Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL, majoring in business and accounting.
On July 24, 1960, he married Nona Lee Knight of Clayton, IL, who preceded him in death.
Bob worked for Wetterau for 32 years. Twenty-seven years of his career was for the company’s Mexico, MO division and later he relocated to Lee’s Summit, MO to work five years at the Kansas City Division. He retired on April 30, 1993 as Vice President of Finance.
Bob worked a subsequent nine years for a number of small businesses in the Kansas City metro area and took his second retirement on April 7, 2002 from the Liquid Soap Products, LTD in Blue Springs, MO after serving four years as Company Accountant.
He served in various civic organizations in Mexico, MO including: Youth Baseball and Softball Association President and Director, Mexico Optimist Club Treasurer and Mexico Chamber of Commerce Treasurer. He was a member of the Kansas City Small Business Administration Score program, counseling small business owners with accounting and management issues.
Bob was preceded in death by parents, Frank Ralph and Dollie Ann (Day) Young, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, and in 2006 by his wife of 46 years, Nona Young.
He is survived by four daughters, Janice (Mark) Stotler of Bloomington, IL, Brenda (Ken) Bowman of Olathe, KS, Linda (Mike) Pasley of Lenexa, KS, and Sandra (Bruce) Allen of Kansas City, MO, and 10 grandchildren, Lindsay and Garrett Stotler, Patrick, Jonathan and Emily Bowman, Jessica and Joseph Pasley, and Lannea, Daniel and Mariel Allen.
