Obituary for Nola Christina Roos

Nola Christina  Roos
Nola Christina (Hrenchir) Roos was born to Leo and Nola Hrenchir on March 28, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in the North East area of Kansas City with her parents and 11 siblings. Nola loved spending time and playing games with family and friends.

Nola was very active with the church throughout her life. Nola was involved in competitive roller skate dancing and receive numerous awards including state and national championships. Nola graduated from North East High School in 1938. Nola moved to Maryland in the 1940’s and began her career with the Federal government working for the US War and State Departments.

She met the love of her life, Wilbur Roos and the two were married on May 17, 1952. Nola and Wilbur enjoyed traveling and spending time with each other. In 1967 Nola accepted a position with the United States Department of Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and retired as the Administrative Secretary to Assistant Chief of Dentistry in 1981. After retirement Nola and Wilbur moved back to the Midwest to be closer to family as they enjoyed retirement.

Nola was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, and eight siblings. She is survived by sisters Dorothy (Hrenchir) Mittlestadt and Josephine (Hrenchir) Stringer as well as many loving Nieces, Nephews, family, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

In celebration of Nola’s life a visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit on August 24, 2018 from 6-8pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9am on Saturday August 25 at Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit; internment will be at Mount Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flower the family is requesting donations to Our Lady of Presentation.
