Dr. A. Paul Winans Jr. of Lee’s Summit, MO was born on November 29, 1933 in Omaha, NE to Paul & Alice Winans and went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 11, 2018. He was the first of five children, Leta (Carl) VunCannon, Melba McDowell, Dawn (Jim) Dringenberg & Phillip Winans.
He worked as a paper delivery boy & then on the railroad. He taught High School social studies & later became a college professor at UCM. In 1956, he and Gwen (Stubblefield) Winans were married & they had four terrific children: Barbara Grey (Kevin), Deborah Hull (Kevin), Arthur Paul Winans III (Tana) and Kristen Baugh (Steve). The beloved grandchildren are, Keith Grey, Laura Misner, Bradley Stearman, Jordan Jones, Chesley Hull, Jeffrey Hull, Lauren Hull, Danielle Smedley, Allison Winans, Aaron Winans, Jeremy Baugh, Matthew Baugh & Jacob Baugh. The great grandchildren are Kinley Blakeman, Kohen Jones, Kolby Jones, Kolton Misner, Mason Smedley & Grant Smedley. Paul was of RLDS faith & he dearly loved his family & his heavenly father.
He served in the army from 1954-1956 in TX, AR & Pittsburg, PN at the Nike Missile Compound. He volunteered at the Truman Library & enjoyed his hobbies of traveling with family, singing with the Heart of America Barber Shop Chorus, collecting and repairing antique radios & writing IA railroad history. He enjoyed relaxing at his home in Raintree Lake & observing the wildlife & seasonal changes.
Paul spread enthusiasm & joy throughout his life of 84 years- 61 of them with Gwen and their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents A. Paul Winans Sr, Alice Winans (Allen), his brother Phillip Winans & grandson Jeffrey Hull.
