Obituary for Marilyn Denise Luttenegger (Mayo)

Marilyn Denise  Luttenegger (Mayo)
Marilyn Denise (Mayo) Luttenegger, 57, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Legacy Christian Church in Lee’s Summit. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the PKD Foundation (Polycystic Kidney Disease).
Marilyn was born on August 21, 1960 in Broken Bow, Nebraska. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhusker football team and the Kansas City Royals, especially her favorite player, Alex Gordon. Marilyn enjoyed watching her children participate in their sports activities and kept statistics for Julia’s softball team. She worked for the Lee’s Summit R7 School District where she taught 5th grade at Prairie View Elementary for 20 years, up until her death.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dorothy (Reed) Mayo from Blair, Nebraska; and her grandparents, Frances Oscar and Julia Lavetta (Huff) Reed of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Daniel Thomas and Genevieve Hazel (Whipple) Mayo of Cosbay, Oregon.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Luttenegger of Lee’s Summit; son, Jacob Luttenegger of Lee’s Summit; father of Julia and Jacob, Michael Luttenegger of Lee’s Summit; brothers, Jerry Mayo and wife Cindy, Tim Mayo and wife Kim, and Jeff Mayo and wife Diana, all of Clay Center, Kansas; sister, Allison (Mayo) Danilovich and husband Tom of Creston, Iowa; brother Jon Mayo and wife Holly of Omaha, Nebraska; many beloved nieces and nephews; and the students and staff of Prairie View Elementary and the Lee’s Summit R7 School District that she taught and worked with during her tenure as an educator.
