Doyle Arnold Acklin, 82, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit. Burial will follow at the Lee’s Summit Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Doyle was born on October 13, 1935 to Lester and Clara (Tunell) Acklin. He was married to Marjorie Ellen Dunham on August 26, 1962 in St. Joseph, Missouri. On May 18, 1970, he completed an apprenticeship in the trade of tool and die under the sponsorship of Bendix Corporation. He worked at General Motors from January 1976 to May 1988, when the Leeds plant closed. He worked for Fixtures Manufacture Corp. from March 1995 to February 1996 before he officially retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Clara Acklin; brothers, Lowell, Donald, Kenneth, and Paul Acklin. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of the home in Lee’s Summit; sons, Brian Acklin of Lee’s Summit, Roy (Teresa Lee) Acklin of Olathe, KS, and Ronald Acklin of Independence, MO; daughter, Teresa Lynn Acklin (Tracy Johnson) of Lee’s Summit; and many nieces and nephews.
He loved bluegrass music, watching war documentaries, and all things related to airplanes and aviation.
Doyle was a devoted family man. He will be missed by all , especially his funny jokes, stories, and teasing. He was always willing to help his neighbors, friends, and family.
