David Winslow Richardson

David was ushered into heaven on November 26th, 2017 at home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. David was born on September 11th, 1964 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Marion and Beverly Richardson. He graduated high school at Lee’s Summit High School in 1983. He continued his college education throughout his adult years at the local community colleges.
After high school he followed in his father’s footsteps by making a career in the alarm industrythat ended with ADT, he then semi-retired due to physical health. David also loved to ride his bicycle and competed in many races. He was an avid bicyclist until an accident changed his life forever. Later, Davidtook up photography as a side hobby and soon found it to be one of his many passions. In his life timehe was married twice and brought two wonderful children into the world.
David had a love for God and attended Lee’s Summit Community Church through much of his life. He was the humble man with the white cowboy hat waving at you in the parking lot or sitting down with you in the commons sharing a cup of coffee. He loved his church family and dedicated his life to serve those in need.
David always wanted to be a part of something great and spread the word of God, so hebecame an activist for children in needaround the world. He belonged to several children’s organizations, and travelled abroad as much as he could to help those less fortunate. David had such a love for helping those in need that he founded the organization, Orphans Abroad, in May of 2010, where he worked with street children in Moldova. He was able to travel to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, and experience first-hand the extreme needs of the orphanages.
David is preceded in death by his father Marion “Bud” Richardson. He is survived by: his mother Beverly Adele Richardson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri;his brother Tom Richardson and his wife Debby of Topeka, Kansas; his sister Maria Richardson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; his daughter Danielle Dey and her husband Mathew of Olathe, Kansas; his son Cory Richardson of Kansas City, Missouri;and numerous nieces and nephews.
David Winslow Richardson made so many wonderful memories with his friends, family, and children throughout his life. He will be missed dearly by all those he touched.
