Gary Lee Norris, 74, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away on November 26, 2017. Gary was the son of Phillip and Nadine Norris, both deceased. He is survived by his wife, Diana, of the home; daughters, Tracy Brashear and Kelly Hinkle; step-son, Patrick (Kelly) Young, all of Lee’s Summit, MO; step-daughter, Stacy (Jeff) Schmidt, of Baldwin City, KS; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Mary Lou Cardwell, of Raytown, MO.
Gary was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Raytown, Missouri. He was a long time resident of Lee’s Summit. After high school, Gary served in the Air Force from 1961-1965 and was stationed in both Florida and Alaska. He was very proud to be a veteran and always took the time to thank any military person he saw for their service to our country.
Gary spent a majority of his working career in sales, with the last 12 years at Trailside RV Center. After retiring from full-time work, Gary was a school bus driver and then the bus monitor for the Lee’s Summit School District. He truly loved “his children” and their parents.
Gary enjoyed sports and was a Kansas City Chief’s Red Coater for 10 years. He loved his family, animals (especially dogs), live theater, concerts, cool cars, and traveling to various places in the world with Diana. His quick wit and goofy sense of fun always made people laugh. He will be greatly missed.
Services to be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO. Visitation will be from 12-2pm with the memorial service to follow. Burial will be at Second Creek Cemetery in Platte County, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wayside Waifs or Great Plains SPCA.
