Betty Ruth Thompson, 86, of Lee's Summit, MO, formerly a resident of Blue Springs, Laurie, and Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St Luke's Hospital, Lee's Summit, MO. Betty Thompson was born in Flat River, MO, February 12, 1931, daughter of Ruth and William Raby. She had 2 brothers, William Raby and Jim Raby. She received her degree in Education in 1951. On June 3, 1951, Betty was married to Robert E. Thompson. Together they raised 4 children; Robert Thompson(Michele), David Thompson(Sandy), Linda Miley(Larry), Mark Thompson. She has 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who gave her great joy.
Betty was actively involved in many church activities including choir, hand bells, teaching, and women's ministries. She volunteered many years for Blue Springs Community Services League. Her special interests revolved around her faith and family. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert after 60 years of marriage, and her son Mark. Visitation is Friday, June 30, 6:30 pm at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit, MO. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm.
