Obituary for Doris Maxine Nease

Doris Maxine (Baldwin) Nease was born in Las Animas, Colorado to George A. and
Laura B. Baldwin. She graduated from La Junta Colorado High School in 1942 and
attended Otero Junior College where she studied Business and Art. She married
Robert G. Irwin in 1944, and twins were born. She later moved to Kansas City,
where she met and married Lyle E. Nease. To that union were born five children
and one adopted son. In 1960, the family moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Before retiring in 1986, Doris had many interesting jobs, including a telegraph
operator for the Santa Fe Railroad. She also worked at International Shoe Factory,
Stephenson’s Restaurant and raised her family of 8 children.
There was no shortage of fun during family gatherings. Board games and card
games were always on the agenda and she brought them with her wherever she
would go. Holidays and family reunions were special times that she enjoyed, but
she never needed an occasion to “shoot the moon”, farkle or sink someone’s
battleship.Always on the go, she loved to travel near and far. Many trips were taken with
Richard’s Fun Time Tours. From the lake to the ocean and around the town with
friends, she enjoyed the adventures, but her favorite trips were to Hawaii.
Other frequent destinations were Royals games, the library and art classes. She
was an avid reader, a loyal Royals fan, and an accomplished artist. From her love
of painting, many masterpieces were born. It was a labor of love that she gladly
shared with family and friends. She was a well-loved member of Grace Church in Lee’s Summit.
Her kind and generous spirit was a testimony of her love and faith in Christ. On October 21,
2016, her faith became sight, and she went home to be with her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle E. Nease, her parents, two
sisters, Mary Mereness and Helen Ford, brother, George William Baldwin and
great-grandson, Paul Schulz, Jr. She is survived by her children: Sandra Irwin
(Robert) Mason, Robert (Carolyn) Irwin, William (Judy) Nease, Patricia Arnold,
Kathrine Jadlow, Mary (Tony) LoChiano, Susan Ackmann and George Nease; 28
grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews.
