Marvin Lee  Kirby
Marvin Lee Kirby, 81, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Sunday, October 23 surrounded by family. He was born July 1, 1935 in Fairbury, NE to Guy and Iva Kirby.After high school graduation he joined the Army and served in the Military Police 1955-1957. He obtained his Masters in Guidance Counseling from Southwest Missouri State. He was a guidance counselor at Lee’s Summit Middle Schools and High School until he retired in 1989 and worked as a middle school counselor in the Kansas City School District 1990-2001. He married Jeanne November 16, 1991. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and in the Lyons Club of Winnebago. He never met a stranger and ran into friends and people he taught all the time.Marvin is survived by his wife Jeanne Kirby, sister, Barb Schoenrock and husband Verl. His first wife Bets and their two children, son Chad Kirby and wife Karla, daughter Ellen Super and husband Mike and grandsons Bobby and Kirby. Stepchildren, Dan Bromley and wife Chris, David Bromley and wife Ginger, Jennifer Nye, Mike Bromley and wife Leah. Grandchildren, Nick and wife Amanda, Katie, Matt, Madison and husband Andrew, Courtney, Lauren, Coby, Raegan, Gracie, and Shepard and great-grandchildren McKinnley and Delaney. Nephews, Russ Freitag, Randy Freitag and wife Esther, Eric Freitag and wife Jessica.
Celebration of life and memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 29 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit, MO at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions in his name to Lee’s Summit Symphony, PO Box 352, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063
