Obituary for Ronald Roy Yoakum

Ronald R. Yoakum, 76, passed away on March 29, 2016. Visitation will be Friday April 1 at Langsford Funeral Home from 10-11am, service at 11am, and burial to follow at Floral Hills East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or The Humane Society. Ron was born on February 7, 1940 in Lee’s Summit and lived there his entire 76 years. He started his working career early mowing yards, baling hay, and any odd jobs that came along. At 17, he started a part time job with Milgrims that lasted 34 years. He then worked, and retired, from Price Chopper. His associates always teased him about knowing everyone. He met many people in his lifetime. In his younger years, Ron loved the outdoors and had many interests. In older years, he was content to sit on the docks of Jacomo with a fishing rod in his hand, “Fifty cents on the first fish”. Ron is survived by his loving and caring wife of 45 years, Hazel. He is also the proud father of his children, Shelli Yoakum, Heath Yoakum, and Ryan (Tammy) Yoakum; brother, Bill (Peg); sisters, Glenda and Joann; granddaughter, Morgan; mother in-law, Dee; sister in-law and brother in-law, Pat and Matt; and so many nieces and nephews. As we say goodbye to this loving man, I hope he knows how much he meant to all of us. He will be missed every day, but never forgotten. Rest in peace Honey, I love you with all of my heart.
