Wanda Lynn  Olive
Lynn Olive, 66 years-old, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, at the John Knox Hospice House in Lee’s Summit, MO. After her valiant fight with pancreatic cancer, she is at peace. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her journey. Lynn was born on April 8, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harlan and Virginia Butts. She was the fourth born of their five children. She moved to Lee’s Summit, MO with her family when she was 11 years old and has loved her community all throughout. Lynn was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Lynn was a devoted mother to her daughters, Melissa Ross and Julie Olive. She was proud of her family and often loved to share stories about her two grandchildren, Dylan and Taylor Ross. Lynn loved being involved in her community as well. She was a hairdresser for over 30 years, a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Lee’s Summit Christian Church, and an active member of the Lee’s Summit Chamber. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Ross (Tony); daughter, Julie Olive; grandson, Dylan Ross; granddaughter, Taylor Ross; brother, Dan Hale (Debra), and sister, Janice Dalton (Jeff). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Virginia Butts; brother, Lanny Butts; brother, Gary Hale (Tommie). Visitation will be Thursday February 25th at Langsford Funeral Home from 5-8pm. A memorial service will be Friday February 26th at Lee’s Summit Christian Church at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Special Olympics.
