Obituary for William H. Uhrig

William H. Uhrig, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19th, at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a military burial to follow at the Lee’s Summit Cemetery. Bill was born in Carrollton, MO on August 2, 1932. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air force and served for 39 years, 10 months, and 11 days. He earned the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and Air Crew Member Badge. While stationed in Chicago he met his wife, Clarine. They married on October 12, 1957; they celebrated 51 years of marriage. In the early 60’s they relocated to the Kansas City area where Bill continued to work for the U.S. Air Force under Civil Service, retiring on August 2, 1992 with the rank of MSGT. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Robert Uhrig. Survivors include daughter Linda and Mike Fisk of Harrisonville, MO; son Mike and Shannon Uhrig of Lake St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren Paige, Macey and Mason; and a sibling, Charles Uhrig of Colorado, and many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Cypress Springs Overland Park, which is an Alzheimer’s, and memory support residence, and Continua Hospice for their compassionate care.
