Obituary for James Urness


James (Jim) Urness, 82, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014. James has been struggling with Alzheimer’s for the past 10 years and has lost the battle with this horrible disease. Vistitation will be held on Wed. Jan. 8th from 5-7pm at Langsford Funeral Home. Cremation. James is survived by his son, James and Janine Urness Jr, Son, Jeffrey Urness, son in-law Kevin Thaete and grandchildren, Teresa Thaete of Texas, Bradley Thaete of Colorado and Jimmy Urness of Missouri and his only great grandchild Tyland Thaete of Colorado. James was preceded in death by his daughter Suzan Thaete of Texas. James was in the Army during the Korean War.James worked for many different hospitals in the Colorado and Florida area’s as Purchasing Manager for hospital supplies for the respective hospitals. When he retired from the hospital supplies business he worked with O’Reilly Auto parts as a delivery driver for approximately 5 years. James enjoyed car racing and golfing. He was involved in the Boy Scouts along with family outings skiing and camping in the Colorado. We would like to say a special “Thank You” to John Knox Village Unit 300 for their great care and compassion for Jim these past two years. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Alzheimer’s Foundation or Kansas City Hospice House.
We love you and you will be truly missed.
