Obituary for Cliff Uttley

Cliff Ryan Uttley, 55, died of natural causes in his home on Tuesday November 22, 2011. A visitation will be held on Sunday November 27th at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit from 2-4 pm with a memorial service immediately following. A Memorial contribution can be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

He was born to Robert and Bonita Uttley on January 28th, 1956. He married the love of his life, Michele Meeth, on January 5th, 1980. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1974, and continued his education at the University of Kansas where he received a degree in Journalism in 1980. He later returned to school and earned his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, and went on to become a sous chef.

He worked as a musical sales representative for the International Music Company where he was awarded salesman of the year. He later became the lead chef in charge of catering and food service at Johnson County Community College.

He was an avid outdoorsman who dedicated his life to Scouting and the betterment of young men. He was the co-founder and scoutmaster of Troop 255 in Lee’s Summit, Mo. His passion for music was unparalleled and lives on through his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bonita Uttley.

He is survived in death by his three children Matthew Uttley of Independence, Mo, Lyle Uttley of Kansas City, Mo and Katherine Uttley of Blue Springs, Mo. HE is also survived by his brother Rory Uttley of Bakersfield, Ca, and the love of his life Michele Uttley of Blue Springs, Mo.

Cliff’s love of life was matched only by the radiance of his smile and the sincerity of his laughter. His love of family was matched only by the depth of his wisdom and the immensity of his compassion.
